SAMs Club tire service just the tip of poor management iceberg.

Poor tire service (mishandled tire repair, not ordering tire that was needed, having issues with ordering new set of tires to replace recalled set, 2.5 hour install time on a Ford van) led to many conversations with numerous in store managers. The problem seems to be a "who cares" attitude in the store. The first thing one manager wanted to do was give me some money back. This does not solve an underlying problem it just sweeps it under the rug. I was informed by one manager that any complaints by e-mail would just by sent back to the store for the store to handle. I don't want my money back I just want to make corporate management aware of a problem that appears to me to go a lot deeper than my tire problems. I do own a small fleet of trucks and cars and will not buy any more tires from SAMs club, it cost me more in lost time and agravation than any money that I saved over a local fleet tire company.

Sams club needs to train their staff-long wait

Return item to customer service and waited when only two people were in front of me. The most confused group I've ever seen. One didn't want to help because they don't like computers, all the other were twiddling thumbs waiting for help from senior people. They took at least 5 phone calls while I was waiting too. I never saw such a group of ignorant (by that I mean untrained) people. All with bad attitudes, people walking in and out without helping. Most frustrating lunch hour ever. I actually called the store to get the manager and it went right up to the customer services desk where I was standing so I knew that would not be any help, I'd be getting in front of myself!

Maybe these people at the service desk were new and haven't been training long. Yes, member services is the "switchboard" of the store.

Did you ask to see a manager? Or, did you just take out your anger on the unfortunate workers at the desk?

Sams Club Battery Prorating Fiasco

I just went to Sams Club in Catonsville, Md with a dead battery that had a 108 month warrenty (free replacement in the first 36 months). The battery was exactly 7 years (84 months) old & I asked for a prorated reduction on a new battery (which now has a 96 month warrenty). I was told by the auto clerk that they didn't do prorations, only free replacements in the first 36 months, because Sams had switched battery manufactures and therefore wasn't responsible for prorating the old battery for a new one.

I don't know how many people this *** shoves off this way, but it wasn't going to be me!! I told him to get his manager & after 10 minutes waiting, he returned with someone who had only his first name 'Jesse" on his name tag & that he was some type of empolyee trainer. He told me the store manager was at a conference somewhere. He initially tried to support the same BS about prorating, until I pointed out the sticker affixed to my dead battery that clearly spelled out how to figure out the prorating. It said to determine the remaining months left on the battery warranty. Mine was 24 months (108 -84). Then determine the percentage of time left on the warrenty 24/108 which equalled 22% The prorated discount that would be applied to the new battery purchase was 22% of the price of the new battery. (NOT 22% OF THE PRICE OF THE OLD BATTERY!!) My prorated discount amount was $16.47 -

Even after all this, this Jesse wanted to verify my original purchase from 2005 on their computer, had to called his distributer, wanted to look up the prorated amount on some chart he couldn't find & tried referring to some pile of disheveled paperwork under the counter. Then, I guess satisfied that he'd wasted enough of my time, took me over to the customer service desk to process the prorated. I spent 50 minutes doing what should have been a 10 minute transaction.

I did use my cell phone to take a picture of the Sams battery guarantee & proration label that was on the top of my old battery since this is probably the only way to verify this whole fiasco.

I did call Sams web site contact number & the rep seemed honestly concerned & I guess we'll see if the Marketing Manager for that area calls me as she promised. -Stay tuned!

This is not my first bad experience at Sams Tire. The last time I left my car to have my Sams purchased tires rotated, I got a summons over the store speaker system, and when I responded, they told me I had defective wheel locks on my car because the wheel lock key was not fitting properly in the wheel lock. When I went into the shop, I discovered that the tire guy tried using the compressed air power wrench to remove the wheel locks & stripped them. Any dummy knows you remove the wheel locks with a hand wrench, not a power wrench. He said he didn't have a hand wrench because his managers removed then from the work shop. Sams had to replace all the wheel locks & matching custom lug nuts.

Needless to say, my next set of tires didn't come from Sams. PS: I also install all my batteries myself.

Don't have locking lug nuts on your vehicle dumb *** they will steal your car before the rims duh. The warranty part tho is right.

You're an ***. Sams club sucks but you can use a impact on wheel locks all day. Wow congrats installing batteries *** ***.

FOLLOWUP - Sams Club Manager contacted me & was apologetic concerning the handling of my battery pro-rating by one of their managers.

However, they were still unable to provide any thing in writing that described their battery pro rating policy, which they stated was part of their computer processing software. Pretty sad that they advertise a product guarantee & then can't supply any written policy on how they would do the pro-rating. - My guess is it's the same for the tires they sell.

Sams should take a lesson from Auto Zone who prints out their warrenty on auto products as part of their customer receipt. Be Advised that you should always make a photo-copy of your receipt since the ink fades on the originals & renders them useless for warrenty claims.

No money, no product & they avoid you like the plague.

Bentonville Sam's Club - out of stock on tires so I ordered & paid for tires - told it'd be 3 to 5 days to get. 3 wks later - orders still open on-line & no notified as told I'd be so made my 1st call. Over the next 1 1/2 wks. I called 4 times. Each person was rude & put out by my call. All said they'd check & call me back - no one did. I then called the 800 customer service # on the website. I was jacked around for 45 mins & sent back to the jerks in the tire dept!!! A couple days later after I calmed down... I thought all stores can't be like this so called Fayetteville store to transfer my order there. They answered with "hold on" before I said a word. 35 mins later, thinking their just leaving the phone off the hook, I looked up who at corporate I'll be contacting, when I finally got a "Hello?" "NO transfering orders to different store... have to cancel the order first, then place a new order at this location...I mean...dont call us here at the store, reorder on-line." "NO- I can't cancel the order. NO-you can't cancel it on-line either. You have to go to the B'ville Sam's to cancel the order. Then 2 hrs at Sam's B'ville with ill-trained people who didn't know what to do!!! Will I ever go to Sam's Club again? Oh *** NO!!! Btw, I ordered from a local tire store at 4pm & they had them the next a.m. from a local distributor & for slightly less then Sam's. Also, I won't be going to Wal-mart if I can help it. I've had just to many problems, it's not worth the frustration. I used to be the biggest Wal-mart supporter around but they are not the same company anymore. Wow, I was surprised. I've never seen soooo many terrible reviews on the internet about a company before.

Discontinued a liked item-Cinnamon Apple Straws

I visited my local store in St.Joseph,Mo. the other day to learn they took the Cinnamon Apple Straws off the shelf and replaced them with Veggie Chips. They already have Veggie Straws on the shelf and added the Veggie Chips(2 like items). The Cinnamon Apple Straws were recommended by the Rehab center at our local hospital to my husband after he suffered a heart attack and had to readjust his eating habits,he would even take them to work and all of his co-workers loved them as my family also when we would go on vacation we would take them.Grandkids loved them also-So now we wont be able to get them unless I contact the company on my own which is World Gourmet Marketing inButler,New Jersey.Would hope Sams Club will see the BIG mistake they made in doing this and bring them back

The Apple Straws were a key piece of my diet. They are an awesome snack and it just figures that Sam's discontinued them.

They've replaced them with the Sensible Portions Ranch Veggie Chips. This bin is always full - appears they aren't selling. Replace a sweet cinnamon/apple treat with ranch?

It's too bad that Sam's can't be a reliable store - I'm frustrated and no longer have a reason to buy anything there. :cry

Guest

Also upset that Sam's does not carry the cinnamon apple straws by Sensible Portions anymore- just the veggie straws. These straws are delicious and such a nice size serving when you want something sweet and crunchy!! :(

Remember, you promised never to shop at Sam's Club again. If we see you in Sam's Club, you will be escorted out the door, chased to your car, then chased out of the parking lot.

I'm tired of you entitled customers and especially business oweners throwing fits and threatening to go to Costco's or BJ's, only to return to Sam's the next week. I'm tortured enough having to work at Sam's until something better enters my life, but you entitled customers that keep threatening to take your business elsewhere are really annoying.

They treated my mother poorly

My mom who is in her 70's has been shopping sams club for many years. On her way out from a recent purchase she left her cash envelope at the register while she was packing up her bags. The Cashier gave her open envelope with about $400 to the customer behind my mother ( this was captured on the Sams club video tape). WHen my mom told me what happened I was sure they would help identify the other member and get my mothers money back ... they couldn't care less. I Called the store manager (she was incompetent and rude) and the customer service line was ZERO help. Their cashier did not follow policy and verify who the money belonged to. SHAME on the *** bag who didn't return the money and shame on SAMS club for not even giving my mother a store credit as a courtesy. I HATE SAMS CLUB. I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AND TELL EVERYONE I KNOW THAT THEY CARE ZERO ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS FROM WHOM THEY EARN THEIR LIVINGS.

By mom a wallet or start shopping with her. This is not the cashier's fault or the manager's fault.

Have mom file a police report. The police will watch the security tapes and discover who took mom's money.

Unfortunately, even with security tape, there is no promise that the person who took the money will be identified. Even if the person could be identified, it still isn't Sam's Club's responsibility to catch the thief, but the victim's with the help of the police.

Guest

How about investing in purchasing a WALLET for your mother? It was her responsibility to keep track of her money, NOT the cashiers!

The cashier probably had no idea what was going on. Then to think Sam's will reinburse you for the money, Umm NO. So basically if I were to loose my car keys inside of Sam's...

and someone else finds them and steals my car, it's Sam's responsibility to buy me a new car? Give me a break, people need to own up to their actions.

Guest

I happen to work for Sam's Club. Generally, the managers are worthless, but there are some good ones.

The policy for found money is to bring it to a manager and let them find the true owner.

Not hand it to anyone who happens to be close by. There are cameras over EVERY register and they will research tape if you ask them.

Guest

YEAH !

Guest

My Sam's has a liberal return policy. If a member drops their booze, cupcakes, cherry tomatoes, cat litter, or anything they have PURCHASED in the parking lot it is OUR fault.

We reimburse them and clean up their mess. Its our fault that they grabbed chicken thighs instead of ***. We take it back and then throw it away. I am not defending Sam's as they take their employees for granted on a daily basis.

I am just wondering about personal responsibility.

If there are no riding carts available we are yelled and and cussed out on occasion. If reliable transportation is vital to their shopping experience, I suggest that they take matters into their own hands and obtain their own riding devise so they can be assured of their own mobility.

Guest

Maybe it's time your Mother has someone to go to the store with if she's having trouble keeping track of her money. That's a lot of money to not have an eye on at all times.

Seems to me your Mom is beginning to need a helping hand. This was not the cashier's fault.

It was your Mom's accident. Be a good son or daughter and help the woman out.

Guest

"shame on SAMS club for not even giving my mother a store credit as a courtesy" - Why should a store give a credit for your mother's negligence? She was the one who left the money at the register - not Sam's Club.

Guest

Sams Club, like Wal-mart hires anyone. Idiots in the car center crunched the rocker panel on my car, lifted it by the sheet metal rather than frame/suspension.

Of course the regional guy they sent out did the same *** of how they are 'professionals' and wouldn't do that.

The little cult cheer you folks do at the start of each shift shows your mentality. What needs to happen is consumers need to start shopping the smaller stores in their communities, you know, the ones that don't stock cheap *** from China, or meats injected with fluid to increase the weight and keep the color 'looking' fresh.

Guest

Such a liar! You should know that many people on this site work at Sam's Club and want to hate on their job but end up defending it because people like you are lying about people like us.

Maybe your mother left $400 at the register but no cashier knowingly handed an envelope full of money to a random stranger. There is no video of this as far as you know because even if there was they wouldn't tell you about it much less show it to you. It would give away camera position. If someone found the money that is not the cashiers problem.

Don't make your mother's mistake Sams Clubs problem. Sams Club is not going to just give you or anyone else $400 just because you lost it in the store. Sams is not a cash machine.

At least you didn't threaten to sue like most people here. One more thing, just because you didn't get your own way does not mean the manager was rude or incompetent.

Embarassed by customer service in front of a line of people

my last experience with sam's was fuzzy strawberries Manager told me to bring in receipt not the berries and sam's would refund and replace strawberries. Service clerk was loud and inform me in front of a group of customer's that I need to bring in the strawberries I told her that the manager said not to but she still insisted, although she refunded the money i was humilated. two weeks ago I purchased a pork roast froze it last sunday i had a family meal and cook the roast it should have been used for salt pork it was very tough, and huge hunk of fat Couldn't eat it Did not take back or complain to Sam's Club because I do not want to be embarassed again. You may want to check and see if other customer's are buying this type of product or if they are being embarassed thank youi

Sam's gas ripoff

I will like to complain place a complain about Sam' s club in reference to their gas prices on store #4776 in Huntsville AL. I'm a member at Sa's club and I expect the gas to be cheaper at Sam's club than any other gas station in town.

On September 19, 2012 i fill up my truck at this gas and once I departed the station not even a mile down the road there was a Jet Pep gas station with a Lower price. If I pay a member ship fee I expect Lower prices than any other place in town.

Its real simple if you don't like the price don't buy it.

I was under the impression with these gas stations at various stores, that you had to show a cash register receipt from the store, in order to get the lower prices for gas. That being said is this the first time you bought gas there and went past the other gas station?

Gave me a hard time trying to buy a giftcard

Sams club... So i called Sams club to see if you could use their gift cards at walmart also(it rang 50 times before i hung up and called another location), and was told i could. Then asked if i needed a sams club membership to buy one. I was told i didnt need one. So i drove to sams and got harassed by the woman at the door for not having a club card. When i explained about my call, she reluctantly let me go to the service counter. Waiting in line for 20 minutes, i finally get to the counter where im told i need a membership card to purchase anything there. i explain that i had called and was told i dont need it, she looked at me and said "i dont know who you would have talked to about that". she was very smug and she knew nobody there was answering any calls. so regardless i finally got a customer to help me buy a gift card, FOR A GIFT.... YOU GUYS ARE IDIOTS! already guarenteed the money on the card if its spent or not, who cares if i had a members card to give you money.

You need a membership to shop there, thats how it is. Did you miss the part about the club?

You are right that there are a few exceptions. In some states retail businesses must be allowed to buy alcohol and tobacco for retail purposes under the law. This is because the state wants the tax revenue generated by the whole process. Also, you don't need a membership to use the pharmacy.

That one I don't know why. If all of these cases the fact is the same. You can't buy or use a giftcard without a membership.

Don't like it? Don't shop there.

pissed a Jbu

really??? then how do people buy cigarettes and alcohol??? thought you dont need a card for those.

And the reason i called is to see if the GIFT CARD could be used at both stores so i wouldnt have to drive all the way to walmart.

READ THE POST BEFORE YOU TRY TO PUT YOUR 2 CENTS INTO IT!

Guest

do you know the cash register won't work? unless a membership card is slip first?

These same long lines at the service desk are the reason no one answers the phones.

it's the same people behind that desk who are supposed to answer the phone. Also, every other person wants a new or temorary card .

lines would be shorter if y'all brought your card with you.

And stop trying to shop by phone. get up off your *** and do your own shopping!!

not even a sorry from the customer service person i talked to... i thought they were all about customer service, that is their department right?

Sam's Club Tire Rip-Off

I went to my local Sam's Club last weekend to price tires, and I looked at B.F. Goodrich 215/70R15 tires for $73.22. The salesperson suggested I wait until this weekend if I was going to buy 4 tires because a $50.00 off sale started on 7/13. I returned to Sam's Club today to buy 4 tires only to find out that the Corporate Office increased the price of the tires from $73.22 to $85.72, thus making the $50 discount a complete wash. This is the most despicable and deceptive sales tactic I have ever seen. I spoke with 2 store managers and both said the price change came from the corporate office, and they had no control over it. Both acknowledged the price change negated the $50.00 off discount, and neither could explain the Corporate Office rationale. I am totally disgusted with Sam's Club and their despicable sales behavior, and I want to notify others of this rip-off. To add insult to injury, the tire technician broke one of my tire studs, and this will cost me another $30-$50 to repair. So they basically cost me $80-$100. Thanks for nothing!!

Cant shop till after TEn without an Advantage Membership

Give me a break! If you do not have a Advantage card you can not enter SAMS untill after 1000 am.

This is just greed; an attempt to get poor people to spend a extra 60.00 to shop at thier Store. My husband and I both are furriuos. WE Will no longer will shop at SAMS or even buy another 40.00 membership. And the advantage membership is only a advantage to SAMS.

It is called getting a job so you can afford to pay the extra $60. If you spent the extra money on advantage, and they allowed someone who did not spend that much to come in before ten you would be throwing a temper tantrum about that.

I've had a Sam's Club Business Membership for 20 years. At least.

I pay $35 and get one additional card member for free. I have not one complaint. I love the fact that I pay a bit more and shop before the masses come in. Ahhhh.

It's awesome. That, to me, is worth it. Here in New Mexico I don't think they even enforce the business member hours. People just come in.

But not many do. I'm not sure what happened to this particular consumer that ticked them off so badly but it was more than them trying to get in before 10 a.m. Sometimes problem customers cause businesses like Sam's Club to lose money yet they complain about how much they've lost. Join Costco.

There are no business member hours there. You will be treated fairly if that is what you think did not happen to you at Sam's Club. Everybody knows about their business hours from 7 to 10 a.m.

It's posted on their glass doors on all entrances. Dah.

Guest

an advantage membership is the regular $40.00 membership, the one that you are referring to is the $100.00 plus membership.

Guest

diappers? furriuos? ***. Be glad you found a husband.

I've been a Business Plus Member for 9 years. Some Sam's Clubs aren't so good at enforcing that rule about Business and Plus members only before 10:00 a.m., which means that I have to wait while Mrs. Wright over here is doing her grocery shopping and checking out before me asking a gazillion questions when all I want to do is get my stuff and get to work.

As a happy Plus member, I have discounts on groceries, meds and my glasses. I also get an extra year of warranty on my things that you couldn't even buy. If Mrs. Wright doesn't want to be bullied(?) into the low membership, good. I pay a premium to get in and don't want to wait behind her cheap ***

Guest

Do you not realize that we have always only been open at 10 am for the general public?? The plus membership is only a few years old, so the store has only been open at 7 am for the business members.

This is old news, it's not like they used to let everyone in at 7, and I'm sure you were informed when you joined that we were open at 10 am for regular members.

If you don't like it don't shop their, I don't think the store gives a *** about your feelings *** ALSO there is no Evalue that is less than $1.00 off they are all atleast a dollar off or more. ***.

Guest

Get over it i sell those memberships and i bet i can sucker you into buying it too

Guest

No this is not greed, in every place if you pay more you get more. You are the cheap one who does not want to pay more for better serivce.

Nikalseyn, do you still have that pen you "borrowed" which caused you to get fired from Walmart.

Your husband and you have mental issues if you are furious over this. GROW UP.

Sams Online sends mixed order, can't fix it

Purchased Golden Amber Oak laminate flooring at local Sams. Then ordered 10 matching Golden Amber Oak stair nose strips to do stairs from Sams online. Sams sent two boxes, 5 in each. I installed the first box. Opened the second, and determined that the color of strips in the first box was wrong, second box was OK. However, I had already glued and nailed the first box, so I attempted to return the second box, and get 5 of strips of stair nose the same color as the first box. I waited a week and they sent me 5 of a completely different color than either of the first two. I found out that the first box contained probably the last 5 in existence. Two managers at the local store attempted to remedy the situation, but finally gave up, telling me to call Pergo and ask for matching stair nose. Pergo told me I can't buy from them, only retailers, to call Sams. I told them Sams told me to call Pergo. So now my options are: 1. Try to get a close match from Lowes or Home Depot 2. Rip up my previous work and order 10 of the same color. This might destroy the laminate glued to the steps and the shape of each step is unique due to shoddy construction by the original builder of the house, so laminate for each step will need to be re-cut. 3. Wait for Sams to remedy the situation by locating stair nose in a warehouse black-hole. My stairs are maybe 50% done, and I'm out of luck due to someone else's mistake. I did get a refund for the 10 strips, but the aggravation is not yet fixed and my stairs are incomplete.
