Complaint: Sam's Club, Freehold. NJ

After being Members since 1998, we were today told by Sams Club in Freehold NJ, to abandon two full carts of merchandize to the value of about $500. They have a problem to accept our Credit and Debit cards from three different Banks – 3 cards that have been used weekly at Sams Club in the past, and all 3 cards with positive balances and no issues. The Customer Service manager had the audacity to tell us that it’s a problem with the cards and not with them (Sams Club). How can 3 cards from 3 different banks be rejected in 1 visit? Next door at Walmart, any of these cards worked without any problems.

When we tried to cancel the Sams Club membership on the spot, we were told by the customer service manager that the primary card holder (not present in person, but on the cellphone talking to the rep) must do it in person and cannot cancel via the telephone. The primary card holder told the customer service manager that it is a 45 minute drive to get to Sams Club and she would like to cancel the membership via phone, but the manager insisted that she would have to come in person and that there is no other option available.

We abandoned 2 carts of merchandise and left Sams Club. The primary card holder immediately contacted Member Services (1-800 number) and was told that the Customer Service Manager was lying and that the account CAN be cancelled via telephone. The account was canceled within 5 minutes VIA TELEPHONE. We are extremely displeased with Sams Club and disappointed to end our relationship of 17 years. We’re going to Costco. -

Anyway you're lying. Bc for the record any store can cancel a membership card .


Enjoy Costco. They too can have trouble processing cards.

The difference between Costco and Sams is that Costco will cancel your card on their own if you act like that. You won't have to ask.

As for the member cancelling the card over the phone, that is a lie and you know it. I have had a Sams card for 10 years and you have to cancel in person.

Now, do any of these cards have the chip in them?

If all three of your cards are rejected then there is something wrong with them.

I find it amusing that you got all bent at Sams over YOUR payment issues and tossed a fit to cancel a membership, then took your butt to Walmart. You do know the Waltons own Walmart and Sams right?
